When six-year-old Bridger saw that an animal was getting a little too aggressive as it headed towards his little sister, he risked putting himself in harm’s way in order to protect her.
Nikki Walter, the boy’s aunt, has decided to share his upsetting story on social media, as she wants him to realise what a hero he is for his brave action.
She wrote: “My nephew is a hero who saved his little sister from an attacking dog. He, himself, took on the attack so that the dog wouldn’t get his sister.”
Nikki then added that she had asked Bridger why he had jumped in front of his sister, she said he responded: “If someone was going to die, I thought it should be me.”
The incident took place in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and immediately afterwards the little boy was taken to hospital where he was treated. Thankfully, he has since been discharged.
In a separate post, Nikki continued: “After getting bit several times on the face and head, he grabbed his sister’s hand and ran with her to keep her safe. After receiving 90 stitches (give or take) from a skilled plastic surgeon, he’s finally resting at home. We love our brave boy.”
Nikki wants the story to share be shared as much as possible because she thinks her nephew deserves a shout-out from a Marvel superhero actor.
In the hopes of achieving this, she has tagged stars in the post such as Tom Holland, Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Pratt, Tom Hiddleston, Chadwick Boseman, Vin Diesel and Chris Evans.
Nikka has posted an update on Bridger’s recovery, she said: “His wounds are looking so much better! He’s in great spirits, and his awesome personality is intact.
“He can’t smile too widely yet, but he was grinning as I read some of your comments to him. I’d also like to mention here that the dog’s owners are really great people who have been nothing but kind to Bridger and his family.
“We feel no resentment toward them at all, and if anything there’s only been an increase of love between our families as a result of this incident.”
Instead of making a GoFundMe page like many have suggested, in order to help with the boy’s recovery, Nikka has asked people to donate through Mission 22 or Wounded Warrior Project.
She said that Bridger is fascinated with geology and that he would love it if people would send him pictures of cool-looking rocks.
